Sky - Cadmium

Sky was a British-Australian classical-rock fusion band formed in London in 1978 by classical guitarist John Williams, fellow Australian guitarist Kevin Peek, keyboarder Francis Monkman of Curved Air fame, famed session bass player Herbie Flowers and drummer Tristan Fry. Their unique style combined with the virtuosity of the individual members and easy accessibility of the compositions quickly gained them a huge and steady fan base. As a result of the success of the first album, the group went on to release their even more successful double record second album. Those first two albums remain in print. Francis Monkman left after the second album and was replaced by Steve Gray.

Fifth studio album (and sixth overall after Sky Five Live) Cadmium is an album of firsts and lasts for Sky. It is the first album to feature especially commissioned compositions by an outside composer with two pieces by Kevin Peek's old Adelaide band mate Alan Tarney, and it is the last album to include John Williams.
